Tinker Design Tool App For Ipad

The Tinkercad experience you know, and love is officially available for the Apple iPad as a free download from the App Store. Not only does this Tinkercad app deliver a more streamlined, touch screen-optimized experience, it also includes an exciting new AR feature for unleashing your designs into the world around you.

What to expect

The Tinkercad iPad app provides the same functionality as the browser experience you're familiar with for both the 3D editor and Codeblo c ks. If you're accustomed to using Tinkercad on a desktop or laptop computer, the only adjustment you 'll need to make is getting used to designing with your fingertip or an Apple Pencil instead of a mouse or trackpad.

Our goal is to provide you with a familiar Tinkercad experience regardless of the device or mix of devices you're using.

That said, here are a few notable advantages to using the iPad app edition of Tinkercad.

Augmented Reality (AR)

With its high resolution screen and camera, the iPad is uniquely suited for experimenting with augmented reality. We've had a lot of fun creating an augmented reality viewer for the Tinkercad app, and we're excited to see what you do with it.

Activating the augmented reality mode is as easy as opening a design in the 3D editor and pressing the AR viewer button found in the top navigation bar. From here, you'll use the camera to find and select a surface to drop your Tinkercad design on.

Once you've chosen a surface, your design will appear in the camera view, sized to its real world scale. From here you can move around your object to other surfaces and adjust the rotation and scale.

Finally, designs in the Tinkercad app can be exported as USDZ files and brought into other AR compatible apps.

More options for your classroom

Schools are understandably strict about what apps and websites students are allowed to use on their iPads and other connected devices. School IT admins now have the option to either flag Tinkercad as an approved website or include us as a pre-installed app across a fleet of iPads.

The Tinkercad app is also compatible with Apple Classroom, allowing teachers to control the use of the app on student iPads. As before, Tinkercad is a p articipant of the CARU COPPA Safe Harbor Program .

Schools can also elect to use Google Classroom with the app.

Internet connected

Just like all other Tinkercad experiences, app users must be online and have an account or class code in order to use the app.

This connection to the internet is fundamental to how Tinkercad can consistently process and present the designs you create across a wide range of computer hardware. More than that, being connected enables you to save designs to your online account, share your work with others, export designs to online services, search the Tinkercad community gallery for inspiration, and so much more.

Circuits

Please note that while it is possible to view existing circuit designs in the Tinkercad iPad app using the Circuits menu, the app does not allow you to create or simulate circuit designs at this time.
